History of Matinée Multilingual

With 2022 marking 40 years since starting the business, Matinée Multilingual has been on quite the journey since its creation in the eighties. From keeping up with developing technology, to adapting to the ever-changing industry trends, we’ve overcome our fair share of challenges to get to where we are.

And who better to tell the story than the man behind it all? Chris Broderick, founder of Matinée, gives an insightful look back at the history of his company, reflecting on the obstacles faced, and the lessons learned along the way.

Case Study

Dutch accent voice over in English for Bavaria promo

Sunipa Pictures were producing a 2 minute web promo for ‘Bavaria’ – a beer brewer based in Holland.

They required a Dutch accent voice over, and chose Matinée Multilingual to help cast the voice artist and produce the recording.

Dutch voice actor – Zeno was selected and we recorded him using our ISDN studio link. The audio was then cleaned & edited as 1 x wav file @ 16 Bit 48Khz.

Matinée Multilingual has done an outstanding job sourcing voice talent and recording voiceovers for 20 language versions of an animated health education video. I’ve particularly appreciated their persistence in identifying voice actors for some less common languages (Rohingya, Karen, Khmer) that they originally thought they would not be able to deliver.
