Korean video localisation for Microsoft’s SkyDrive (OneDrive)

Project description

Deliverables

Video localisation in 38 languages, voice artist casting and recording, post-production editing and file delivery

Client

In 2012, Microsoft’s creative agency created an English video to promote SkyDrive (now known as OneDrive); a product which allows users to store, sync and share files (photos, videos, music etc.), and access them via a web browser or mobile device.

Brief

To build on product awareness and better reach their customers across the world, Microsoft needed a localised version of the promotional video in 38 languages including Korean.

Solution

As the project involved a large number of voice artists, our talent manager immediately set out to carefully handpick native voice artists that could match the original American voice over style as closely as possible.

After several rounds of vetting through our talent roster list, we spoke to over 200 voices before finally selecting the ones we felt worked best!

After all 38 voice-overs were recorded, we then re-created all video graphics and animations in Adobe After Effects.

The final videos were rendered in a number of file formats to match the specification provided by Microsoft. The Korean version is shown in the video above.

They were really happy with our work and we went on to localise a number of other SkyDrive videos.
