Client

Two powerhouses in the world of cyber security, Amelia Hewitt and Rebecca Taylor are also known in their digital circles as the Cyber Agony Aunts.

With Amelia being Principal Defence’s cyber consulting director and Rebecca a threat and intelligence knowledge manager and researcher at Sophos, the dynamic duo started the Cyber Agony Aunts – a podcast series aimed at tackling the challenges faced by women in their careers.

Wanting to be a mentor, ally and essentially a friend to women working in largely male-dominated fields, the podcast allows Amelia and Rebecca to connect with their audience, showing them ways to strive for success, confront their challenges and offer actionable insights.

In May 2025, they published a book titled Securely Yours: An Agony Aunts Guide to Surviving Cyber. The book resonates to women at all stages of their cyber careers, answering the most pressing questions about surviving and thriving in a male-dominated industry.

To compliment the book release and take a deeper dive into some of the issues covered in their book, Amelia and Rebecca launched the Cyber Agony Aunts podcast.

Brief

Amelia and Rebecca wanted a podcast recording space that made them feel safe, comfortable and supported.

Conscious that they didn’t just want a room with microphones, but a professional recording studio that came equipped with an experienced audio engineer and the know-how to make their audio-only podcast sound its best.

After listening to their recording needs, we were eager to become their podcast partner and collaborate on this exciting journey with them.

Solution

Once we understood the brief, our in-house audio engineer hit the ground running by setting up the recording studio with industry-grade audio equipment and ensured that the space was comfortable for both Amelia and Rebecca.

As recording a podcast takes confidence and the ability to be vulnerable on challenging topics, Matinée was able to provide a safe and comfortable space for a smooth-flowing recording session and gave them the space to focus on what is important: candid and honest conversations for their audience.
